Introducing Reify

Welcome! This blog post, which I’ve been waiting a long time to write, is the official “Hello, World” of Reify, the new company I recently founded with my friend, mentor, and now partner Brian Doll. Reify is a sales and marketing consultancy designed to work with companies whose primary audience is very familiar to us: developers.

I’ve spent the last two and a half months immersed in an experiment that occurred to me as I was winding down my full-time involvement with Code Climate, the company where I first really got interested in the “business” side of software. The idea was to combine my unique experiences as a developer, a salesperson, a marketer, and evangelist to provide a service that is both unique and sorely needed at many early stage B2B SaaS startups: marketing and sales aimed at the developer market.

Brian was one of the first people I reached out to when I started out with this experiment, and he was immediately encouraging. I had many other early boosters, too many to name, but Brian stood out because he immediately saw the full potential. Beyond his normal enthusiasm, he was hooked: we discussed a partnership.

And now here we are — the company that was very briefly known as Computer Modern will go back into the drawer, to be used some other time. Together as Reify, Brian and I are now working with a handful of clients who make all kinds of different products and we’d love to work with you, too!
